Here we go again. This is the first time I’ve redesigned my site in nearly a year and a half. I’ve created several different designs in that time, but I couldn’t settle on anything until now. There’s still some work to be done, but it’s good enough for now.

The biggest change to the site, in addition to the new look, is the creation of this blog. Hopefully, it will help other web developers learn a few tips and tricks and find quick fixed annoying bugs that I’ve had to deal with over the years. Also, I hope this blog will show potential clients and employers that I actually know what I’m doing. Many other sites and bloggers in the web design community have unknowingly helped me out time and time again (e.g. Jonathan Snook, Sitepoint, A List Apart). In fact, I learned almost everything I know about web development for free online, and I think that after 6 years it’s time for me to pay it forward.

I’ve added a lot of nifty Javascript effects to this version of my site. I normally try not to do this for fear that the all the little animations will distract the viewer from the site’s content. I hope that won’t not the case with this.

I have a lot of people to thank for publishing free scripts and services online, including Tumblr (which I am using to power this blog), AddThis for the share links down below this blog post, the good people who created jQuery, and all the plug-ins I’m using (take a look at the source code if you want to know who did what). Certainly, I could have written the code myself to run the blog (I’ve done it before), or for comments, or the effects, but why bother when someone has already done it for me?

Let me know what you think of the site by commenting below (thanks to IntenseDebate for the free commenting service).
